Pathways to Membership and Fellowship
Many people join our organisation at different levels. Some, are highly experienced speakers who can join as a Member. Others are just starting out on their career and join as a Candidate.
Usual steps taken by members- Join as a Candidate
- Gain experience and knowledge of speaking over the course of two years
- Apply for Membership
- Increase experience and improve speaking business over next 18 months
- Apply for Fellowship
Not everyone wishes to become Fellows, of course, since significantly higher requirements are in place. In particular, some Members may not reach the financial requirements (£50,000 from speaking over the course of two years).
Should I join as a Candidate or a Member? If you are speaking regularly and already earn a significant proportion of your income from speaking in front of audiences of all sizes, you can probably join as a Member, providing you have completed a minimum or 10 speaking engagements in the previous 12 months.
If you are only just embarking on a career as a speaker and haven't done many engagements, then Candidate is right for you. Equally if you are moving from being a trainer to being a speaker, then Candidate is right for you as well. If in any doubt, ask a Chapter leader, or contact the PSA directly.
What if I don't want to be a speaker? If you do not wish to be a speaker, but wish to be kept informed of PSA activities, then you can join this web site as a Guest. You can also attend up to three PSA meetings as a Guest. However, you will not receive the PSA publications, nor will you have access to the in depth parts of the web site.
